Eversheds Sutherland advised the Cherkizovo Group on its acquisition of 75% of the Samson Food Products Group

    The Cherkizovo Group acquired a majority stake in a group of companies based in St-Petersburg and selling meat products under brands such as Samson, Grillmania, Fileya and others.

    We served as legal advisor to our client Cherkizovo Group and assisted in purchase of a 75% stake in the St.-Petersburg-based Samson Food Products Group, which is a strong brand within the sausage segment. The expected cost of the acquisition is over USD 5m. This acquisition will increase the Chekizovo group’s range of products and its geographic reach in St.-Peterburg and the North-Western Federal District.

    This engagement is described as a strategic partnership between the two groups to create significant business growth, where Samson would continue to operate as an independent company and retain its management.

    Our work included conducting due diligence, negotiating and drafting package of complicated transactional documents that resulted in establishing JV.

    The team was led by Managing Partner Victoria Goldman and Partner Mikhail Timonov, supported by Counsel Anton Bakov.
