Eversheds comment: Latest privatisation move by India is just the start of liberalisation
- United Kingdom
11-09-2014
Commenting on the news of India stepping up its privatisation programme Parmjit Singh, head of the India group at law firm Eversheds, says:
“Prime Minister Modi is confidently stamping his authority on the direction that India will take economically over the next five years and beyond. Following a successful visit to Japan last week and the announcement that the Indian Government will step up its privatisation programme, no one is left in doubt from international governments and investors to Indian companies and citizens, that PM Modi and his Government will surely pursue an aggressive policy to manage the fiscal deficit and then grow the economy.
“This is only the start. Expect more news about liberalisation over the coming months.
