Mark Brunton is a partner in the Eversheds Company Commercial Practice Group. He specialises in advising on major projects in the railway sector and is expert in commercial contract drafting and negotiation in the regulated railway environment. He has a particular focus on rail franchise/concession agreements and rail infrastructure related projects.
Examples of Mark's experience include:
- advising an infrastructure manager on agreements in relation to rail infrastructure assets and regulated access
- advising the Department for Transport on a number of rail franchise agreement amendments to facilitate investment in increased capacity and other improvements for passengers
- advising the Department for Transport on a number of railway franchise letting competitions including in relation to the Trans Pennine Express and South Western franchises
- advising the Department for Transport on a number of railway franchise direct awards including the 2015 Great Western, 2018 Inter City West Coast and 2019 East Midlands franchises
- leading the Eversheds team advising Chiltern Railways on the Project Evergreen 3 Chiltern Main Line infrastructure upgrade (including the creation of a new inter city route from London to Oxford via Bicester).
Mark is recognised in Chambers UK and Legal 500 as a leading individual in the rail sector.
