Practice notes
Emma joined Eversheds in September 2007 and is a Principal Associate in our company commercial practice group. She has extensive experience in intellectual property and information technology. Emma specialises in non-contentious matters and regularly drafts, and advises clients on, all types of contracts relating to the exploitation of IP and IT (including technology transfer, licensing, R&D, joint venture, outsourcing and collaboration agreements). Emma also handles the IP aspects of major corporate transactions regularly.
Emma acts for a wide range of clients in diverse industries, from technology start-ups to AIM listed companies and from UK local government entities to multinationals. Emma's experience also includes an 8 month commercial secondment to a NASDAQ listed drug discovery business.
Emma's recent deal experience includes:
- negotiating and completing a local authority's procurement of its strategic partner in respect of its ICT and various in-house functions. The contract value in this case exceeded £180 million and the contract has the potential to extend to a period of thirteen years;
- advising a UK corporate in the healthcare sector on the IP aspects of its sale of a group of multinational companies with a significant brand portfolio;
- providing strategic brand management advice to a UK development agency, including in respect of complex joint ownership issues; and
- assisting a UK corporate on the drafting and negotiating of its suite of development, supply and consultancy agreements in respect of its wind turbine technology.
