Ray is an associate in our Construction and Engineering group specialising in contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering matters and has advised a range of clients, including funders, tenants, developers and educational institutions.

Ray has drafted, negotiated and reported upon standard form contracts and bespoke construction contracts including building contracts, professional appointments, novation agreements, collateral warranties, performance bonds, parent company guarantees, reliance letters and letters of intent.

Ray has experience with a number of dispute resolution methods including litigation in the Technology and Construction Court concerning a summary judgment application and counterclaim, adjudication, arbitration and mediation.

Career highlights to date include:

  • Advising on a £270 million mixed-use leisure development in Swindon;
  • Advising on an £82 million office development in Birmingham city centre;
  • Advising a retail sector client on an adjudication with its main contractor relating to defects and wrongful termination;
  • Advising a utilities sector client in relation to its £2.3 billion capital delivery and maintenance programme; and
  • Advising an airport client in relation to the expansion of its existing departure lounge.
