Shadiyah Jawaheer joined our Retail Finance and Payments team as an associate in March 2019 after completing her training contract with the firm.

Shadiyah works with financial institutions (including banks, building societies and challenger banks), credit reference agencies and payments institutions (including card issuers, payment platform providers, and e-money providers). She regularly advises clients on the legal and regulatory rules governing a wide range of financial products including payment instruments, mortgages, secured and unsecured credit facilities, current accounts and savings accounts. She has recently completed a secondment in the lending team at Barclays.  

Shadiyah’s recent work includes:

  • Advising on and leading a large scale regulatory review project for one of the UK’s top 3 mortgage lenders in relation to their arrears management programme;
  • Advising a prospective peer-to-peer lender on the authorisation and regulatory regime applicable to loan crowdfunders in the UK;
  • Advising financial institutions and fintech companies on various aspects of their marketing campaign to promote regulated credit, retail investment and savings products; and
  • Advising building societies and banks on the implementation of Open Banking Standards and compliance with PSD2.
