Practice notes
Simon is a Principal Associate in the Human Resources Practice Group. He provides immigration assistance to companies and universities.
Simon assesses future people-related risk regarding immigration caused to companies by Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of new Immigration Rules in 2020. This has included managing communications, answering queries from employees or HR teams, presentations at a large number of universities across the UK and conducting many workshops for staff. He also works with companies and universities to handle major immigration risks such as illegal working allegations and licence suspension. Simon makes Skilled Worker and sponsor licence applications, conducts immigration audits and trains in-house teams to manage immigration requirements. Cross-border immigration projects, requiring the assessment of permission for British citizens to work in European Economic Area countries, has become a major part of Simon’s work.
Simon regularly conducts training on behalf of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association and is a panel member answering queries for LexisNexis PSL. He was individually commended in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Europe Awards 2019, in the "Rule of Law and Access to Justice" category, for analysis of immigration information he received through a Freedom of Information Act request. He has appeared in the Legal 500 as a recommended practitioner since 2014
